2025 Triathlons

Participate in one of the oldest, continuously running triathlons, now celebrating 51 years! This is a sprint triathlon with a unique format of bike, swim, and run; and is held at a starting elevation of 7,400 ft. The course is challenging with a rolling bike course that starts in town and takes you along an open course surrounded by forest and mountain vistas, returns to the Aquatic Center for a 400-meter swim, and ends with a slight uphill run.

 

51st ANNUAL LOS ALAMOS TRIATHLON

Course in order: 20K Bike (open course), 400m Pool Swim, 5K Run

Helmets are required. Swim is in a 50m, 8-lane pool, participants swim one direction in each lane (snake swim). Shallow entry, no diving.

Start Times:

• Elites: 7:30am time trial starts; 20 sec. intervals
• Individual/Teams: 7:40am - 1st wave
  • Waves are determined on July 17

Awards: 10:00am

Race/Age Categories: Age as of Dec. 31, 2025

• Individuals: 15 –20, 21-30, 31-40, 41-50, 51-60, 61-69, 70+
• Teams: All Male, All Female, or Coed 19 & under, 20 - 29, 30 - 39, 40 - 49, 50 - 59, 60+
• Elite: Male & Female, No age category
• Clydesdale*: Men 220+ lbs.
• Athena*: Women 165+ lbs.

Weigh-in by 6:30am at the Aquatic Center

Fees:

• Individual: $50
• 2-Person Team: $90
• 3-Person Team: $120

All entry fees are non-refundable. Race is limited to 175 competitors

 

7th ANNUAL JR TRIATHLON

This is an abbreviated sprint triathlon course, which allows our junior competitors to transition from the Kids Triathlon into a competitive and timed triathlon.Course in order: 6.4K Bike (open course), 200m Pool Swim, 2.4K Run. Helmets are required.

Group Start Time: 7:00am

Awards: 10:00am

Age: 10 - 16 as of Dec. 31, 2025

Fees:

• Individual: $30

All entry fees are non-refundable. Race is limited to a minimum of 15 and a maximum of 50 competitors.

 

29th ANNUAL KIDS TRIATHLON

A fun introduction to the multi-sport world for children with an emphasis on fun and fitness, not competition. This is a continuous and un-timed event. Kickboards and life jackets are available and may be used. Course in order: Bike, Run, Swim. Helmets are required.

Group Start Time: 11:00am

Race/Age Categories & Distances: Age on Race Day

• Pee Wees: 3 - 4 & 5 - 6 1/4 mi. Bike, 100 yd Run, 25 yd Swim
• Juniors: 7 - 8 1/2 mi. Bike, 1/4 mi. Run, 50 yd Swim
• Juniors II: 9 - 10 1 mi. Bike, 1/2 mi. Run, 50 yd Swim

Fees:

• Individual: $25

All entry fees are non-refundable. Race is limited to 100 competitors
