Due to ongoing dry conditions and prevailing high winds, Fire Marshal Colorado Cordova of the Los Alamos Fire Department (LAFD) has elevated fire restrictions to Stage 2 within the boundaries of Los Alamos County to safeguard public health and safety, as well as protect lands, structures, natural and historical artifacts.
Los Alamos County’s Community Development Department will host a free Do-It-Yourself (DIY) Workshop for homeowners on Saturday, March 28, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Fuller Lodge’s Pajarito Room in Los Alamos.
Homeowners can meet with staff from the Department’s Building and Planning teams to discuss potential home improvement projects, ask questions about permits, and get guidance on the benefits of hiring a licensed contractor or completing work themselves. Projects may range from small additions to installing a new fence or carport.
Residents are encouraged to bring photos, drawings, or plans for review.
