Fall Fiesta at Valles Caldera

With elk bugling during misty mornings and aspen leaves turning shades of gold, Fall is a magical time in the Jemez Mountains. Come celebrate the season at the Valles Caldera Fall Fiesta. The 2024 fiesta will run from Saturday, October 5 through Sunday, October 13, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Each day will have different ways for you to connect with this special volcano. The event and entrance into the park are both free.

This year, we will be hosting most of the events up in the cabin district. This is about 4 miles down the entrance road.

Daily Schedule

Details of guest speakers, artisans, and programs will be posted as soon as possible. Here is the basic agenda for each day.

• Park opens at 9 a.m.
• Fiesta activities for the day start at 10 a.m.
• Cultural artisans, education exhibits, and activities from 10 am to 4 p.m.
• Guest speaker at 11 a.m.
• Ranger-guided hike at 12 p.m.
• Cultural demonstration or performance at 2 p.m.
• Park closes at 5 p.m.

Pending staffing availability and weather:

During the 2024 Fall Fiesta, we are planning to have part of the park open until 10 p.m. to help visitors enjoy the elk rut, go on an evening hike, or enjoy the night sky. The area we plan to keep open for this special after hours time is from the main entrance down to the Entrance Station area.
