Moonrise Hike with PEEC on Kwage Mesa

Experience the beauty of a moonrise hike hosted by the Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC). On Friday, April 11, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., join PEEC staff for a scenic hike on the Kwage Mesa Trail. This free event offers an opportunity to hike under the glow of the rising moon, while learning about the celestial wonders of the night sky.

About the Event: The hike will begin at the Kwage Mesa Trailhead at 6:30 p.m., where participants will embark on an easy, approximately 2-mile trek. As the group hikes, PEEC staff will share insights about the April moonrise and other unique features of the night sky. The hike will conclude at 8:30 PM or earlier, giving everyone a chance to enjoy the peaceful surroundings and stargazing.

What to Bring: Since this program will be outdoors, we recommend dressing appropriately for the weather. Participants should bring a red-light headlamp or flashlight, though extras will be available for those who don’t have one. For the comfort of all participants, please leave dogs at home for this event.
