Due to ongoing dry conditions and prevailing high winds, Fire Marshal Colorado Cordova of the Los Alamos Fire Department (LAFD) has elevated fire restrictions to Stage 2 within the boundaries of Los Alamos County to safeguard public health and safety, as well as protect lands, structures, natural and historical artifacts.
Celebrate National Park Week and Arts in the Parks at Valles Caldera National Preserve on Saturday, April 25. This daylong event at the Ranger Station features a variety of creative and interactive experiences, including a silent disco overlooking Valle Grande, photography and watercolor programs, prose writing, art exhibits, and live artist demonstrations.
The silent disco, featuring a lineup of Puebloan, Tribal, Native Hawaiian, and New Mexico-based artists and DJs, offers a unique, low-impact way to enjoy music while preserving the park’s natural soundscape. Limited headsets will be available for participants.
