Published on May 07, 2025
The community is invited to join in a joyful, family-friendly celebration of the natural world—and the inspiring local projects making Los Alamos an even better place to live, play and explore.
The Yes! In My Backyard! (YIMBY) Film Festival this Saturday, May 10 at SALA Los Alamos Event Center, sponsored by Shimano, Los Alamos Children’s Dentistry, New Mexico Bike N’ Sport and more local businesses, features a 90-minute program of adventurous, lighthearted short films—from extreme bike stunts and trail-loving dogs to stunning environmental shorts spanning Iceland to the Amazon.
The festival includes heartwarming stories of outdoor family adventures, and a special short by local filmmaker Kyle Dickman—which premiered at the 2024 Banff Mountain Film Festival—on efforts to save the last of the giant sequoias.
Plus: A raffle of two kids’ mountain bikes and a ton of awesome prizes donated by national sponsors and local businesses. Todd from Mobile Bike Works will be fixing bikes in the lobby. Ride to the event … come for the films—leave with gear, gift cards or even a new bike.
Come hungry—Pi-239 will be serving up legendary pizzas at the theater.
