Los Alamos, New Mexico—where discoveries are made—invites travelers to explore the legacy of generations past, along with groundbreaking scientific discoveries, at the Bradbury Science Museum. Located in downtown Los Alamos, the museum gives visitors a unique window into the pivotal moments that shaped modern science and national security.
“Los Alamos has been an essential part of shaping the fabric of our national history through science and innovation,” said Ellyn Felton, Marketing Specialist for Los Alamos County. “For anyone interested in science or history—or for those who loved the film Oppenheimer—a visit to the Bradbury Science Museum is the perfect opportunity to learn about our area’s contributions and discoveries in a fun, hands-on manner.”
Offering free admission every Tuesday–Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and every Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m., the museum features more than 40 interactive exhibits across three main galleries—History, Defense, and Research. Museumgoers can explore everything from replicas of "Fat Man” and "Little Boy” that helped end WWII to current advances in supercomputing, space technology, and renewable energy. Newer exhibits delve into the science of plutonium and nuclear stewardship.

After a visit to the Bradbury Science Museum, continue the exploration of Los Alamos’ past with a stop at the Los Alamos History Museum for an up-close look at the Manhattan Project and life in Los Alamos prior to World War II. For visiting families, plan a stop at the Los Alamos Nature Center. Here, children can play on the playground, families can catch a show in the Planetarium, and all can become familiar with local landscapes through topographical maps, interactive displays, and meet-and-greets with live animals.
