Library Kicks Off Spring With Seed Library Events
Published on February 03, 2026
The Los Alamos Public Library and the Los Alamos Community Seed Library are welcoming spring with a volunteer seed-sorting event Saturday, Feb. 7, at the White Rock Branch Library. The event runs from 2 to 4 p.m., and all community members are invited to help clean, sort, and package donated seeds.
This seed-sorting event is the final program in a series of winter seed drive sorting parties. It represents the last community push to stock the seed library cabinets at Mesa Public Library, White Rock Branch Library, and the Pajarito Environmental Education Center. By the first week of March, those cabinets will be filled and ready for the official launch of the seed library’s fourth season.
“We are excited to open the seed library for the fourth season,” said Senior Librarian Eva Jacobson. “It feels like we just launched this volunteer-powered initiative, but we already have three seasons under our belt and have circulated several thousand packages of seeds to local gardeners.”
