Bandelier National Monument Camping

Backpacking
Over 70 miles of hiking trails await! The nearest backcountry camping zone is located two miles from the park visitor center. Permits are required.

Juniper Family Campground
Near the Bandelier entrance, the campground offers 55 campsites, three bathrooms with running water, and one dump station. Each site has a limit of two tents, two vehicles, and ten people. While RVs are permitted, there are no electricity hookups or showers. Most campsites can be reserved up to six months in advance, with the remaining sites available on a first-come, first-serve basis on the day of your visit.

Ponderosa Group Campground
The campground, situated at 7,600 feet elevation, features two group campsites accommodating 10-50 people each and provides easy access to the Ponderosa Trail Head and various nearby attractions. This location does not have electricity hookups or running water, but does have pit toilets. Reservations are required to stay here.

Camp May Pavilion/Campsites

Located on Camp May Road, west of Pajarito Mountain Lodge, Camp May has tent and trailer camping. The location also has pit toilets, picnic areas, and a group pavilion and amphitheater. There are no hookups or water at this location. Open seasonally May through October, this site is managed and costs $20/night. People wanting to stay here will need to contact the Aquatic Center at 505-662-8170, open Monday - Friday 6 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Los Alamos Main Gate Park

This location is off of NM502 at the entrance to Los Alamos townsite. It is a RV/trailer campground with a sewer dump station, no electricity hookups, and restrooms available. Open year round, this site is managed and costs $20/night. People wanting to stay here will need to contact the Aquatic Center at 505-662-8170, open Monday - Friday 6 a.m. - 6 p.m.

White Rock Visitor Center & RV Park

This park is located on the north side of NM4. It has 16 first come, first serve RV spaces with electricity hook-ups (30/50 amp). The location also offers potable water, a sewer dump station, dog park, and restrooms when the Visitor Center is open. Coming later in 2024 will be 24/7 access to outdoor restrooms. This location has a two-week limit and a self-pay kiosk for people to use near the fenced-in dog park. Open year round, this site is managed and costs $20/night.
