Due to ongoing dry conditions and prevailing high winds, Fire Marshal Colorado Cordova of the Los Alamos Fire Department (LAFD) has elevated fire restrictions to Stage 2 within the boundaries of Los Alamos County to safeguard public health and safety, as well as protect lands, structures, natural and historical artifacts.
El Día de Los Muertos or The Day of the Dead is a holiday in which people are able to honor their loved ones who have passed on before them. The YMCA Día de Los Muertos 5K Run will be a fun way for us to honor our loved ones who have passed on before us. It will include an Ofrenda with candles to light for the loved ones we are running to honor. There will also be a board in which pictures of loved ones can be placed as well. It will allow us to celebrate those that have gone before us in a fun, unique and active way. There will be prizes for top finishers as well as best costume, so dress to impress! There will also be some fun activities for the kids at the end of the race as well! Proceeds will go to the YMCA to help support their after-school activities, summer programs as well as sports programs for our youth.
Please come and join us for the First YMCA Día De Los Muertos 5k on Saturday, November 1, 10 a.m. at The Los Alamos Cooperative Market, so that we may Run to Remember.
